Kung Fumbling: Boby's Justice Quest

Synopsis

Robert Pickleman, a mild-mannered accountant with a secret obsession, has spent every night for the past decade binge-watching Chinese kung-fu movies. After his 1000th film, something snaps in Robert's mind, and he reinvents himself as "Boby," a self-proclaimed kung-fu vigilante. Despite having no actual martial arts training, Boby fashions a makeshift costume from his bathrobe and kitchen utensils, convinced he's absorbed all the necessary skills through screen time alone.

Armed with poorly pronounced Chinese phrases and moves that look nothing like the films, Boby embarks on his mission of justice across his suburban neighborhood. His first attempts at crime-fighting—confronting a teenager who didn't pick up after his dog and attempting to stop what turns out to be a permitted garage sale—result in humiliating failures and increasingly concerned neighbors. When a video of Boby awkwardly "flying" off his garden shed goes viral, he unexpectedly becomes an internet sensation.

As Boby's fame grows, he attracts the attention of a struggling local kung-fu school owner who sees a marketing opportunity. Meanwhile, his accounting firm clients are bewildered by his new tendency to dramatically enter conference rooms and his insistence on being addressed as "Master Boby." When actual minor crimes begin occurring in the neighborhood, Boby must confront the disconnect between movie magic and reality, all while learning that his definition of "bringing justice to the world" might need some serious reconsideration.
